EA’s Star Wars Jedi: Survivor gets PC patch to fix some performance issues

Star Wars Jedi: Survivor released over the weekend with a slew of performance issues, and EA is now doing something about it. The company noticed the problem over the weekend and is releasing a new patch for the PC version of the game – which has been hammered by negative Steam reviews in recent days.

EA has announced the new Survivor PC patch today on Twitter and says it’s available now. The company claims the patch will provide “performance improvements for non-ray traced rendering”. The company also says it is “working hard” to make more patches that will fix more bugs across all platforms Survivor is available on.

While Survivor hasn’t had that many performance complaints on the console (the PS5 version worked great for our review), EA has already prepared a patch that will be released tomorrow, May 2, for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. That patch contains a long list of fixes that EA says the PC version “already received.”

Some of the upcoming improvements include fixing “multiple crashes” in different parts of the game, including when skipping cinematic scenes. There are also issues with “dynamic fabrics”, your player getting stuck in the Chamber of Duality if you die after leaving it (I hope you saved your game after that), and a bunch of rendering issues.

Don’t expect this PC patch (or the next one) to be a panacea that fixes all the problems you might encounter. As EA noted on Friday, “there’s no single, all-encompassing solution for PC performance,” mainly because there’s a wide mix of configurations, from GPU and CPU combinations to whether you’re running Windows 10 or 11.
