Farouk Miya: On their return to the biggest footballing competition on the African continent, Uganda Cranes scored a single goal.
Faruku Miya smashed in a thunderbolt from outside the area as Cranes drew 1-1 with Mali in their last group game of the just concluded 2017 Africa Cup of Nations.
The strike that earned Miya the Man of the Match Award was later named by CNN as the Goal of the week.
Now, the 70th minute strike which was Uganda’s first and only goal at the tournament after a 39 year wait has been nominated by CNN for goal of the tournament and it’s open for voting.
Miya’s strike is competing with Piqueti’s goa l for Gabon against Cameroon, Mohamed Salah’s strike against Burkina Faso and Vincent Aboubakar’s goal against Egypt in the final.
